L’équipe du projet EpistolART organise à l’Université de Liège, du 4 au 8 juillet 2016, un séminaire entièrement consacré à l’édition et à l’étude de lettres d’artistes italiens de la Renaissance.

Le programme, composé de cinq journées, prévoit :
– des sessions théoriques centrées sur les dimensions codicologiques, paléographiques, linguistiques et historico-culturelles des lettres ;
– des sessions pratiques dédiées à la transcription, à l’étude linguistique et historique des lettres, ainsi qu’à leur traitement informatique ;
– des conférences tenues par des spécialistes de renommée internationale ;
– des moments d’échange entre les chercheurs et les conférenciers invités ;
– une visite de la ville de Liège.

Durant le séminaire, les participants contribueront à l’édition complète d’un ou plusieurs documents épistolaires. Ce travail pourra donner lieu à une publication nominative dans la base de données EpistolART.

Public cible :

Le séminaire s’adresse à des chercheurs, doctorants et post-doctorants en sciences humaines. Les curricula d’étudiants particulièrement méritants pourront également être pris en considération.

Le corpus des textes qui seront analysés et transcrits durant les leçons impose une bonne maitrise de l’italien. Les candidats devront en outre avoir une connaissance, au moins passive, du français et de l’anglais.

Objectifs :

Le séminaire organisé par l’équipe du projet EpistolART vise à développer les compétences philologiques, linguistiques et de recherche historique dans le domaine de l’édition digitale de lettres du Quattrocento et du Cinquecento. Le corpus traité sera issu du Carteggio inedito d’artisti dei secoli XIV, XV e XVI, publié entre 1839 et 1840 par Johann Wilhelm Gaye, anthologie qui est au cœur du projet EpistolART.

Crédits :

Une attestation de participation sera délivrée à chaque participant au terme du séminaire.

Participation aux frais :

Les droits d’inscriptions s’élèvent à 500 €, à verser au plus tard un mois après la réception de l’avis d’acceptation. Ce montant vise à couvrir les frais liés au logement, les repas de midi, les pauses-café, l’accès aux ressources informatiques et bibliographiques de l’Université de Liège.

Candidatures :

Les candidatures, composées d’un curriculum vitæ et d’une lettre de motivation (max. 1.000 caractères), seront envoyées par mail à l’adresse epistolart@ulg.ac.be au plus tard le 3 avril 2016.

Les étudiants qui ne sont pas titulaires d’un diplôme de master joindront à leur demande une lettre de présentation d’un de leurs professeurs. La sélection sera effectuée sur la base de l’expérience des candidats et des motivations exprimées dans la lettre.

Bourses :

Plusieurs bourses d’un montant équivalant aux frais d’inscription seront octroyées aux candidats les plus méritants.

From 4 – 8 July 2016, at the University of Liège, the EpistolART team is organising a seminar devoted to the publishing and study of letters from Italian Renaissance artists.

The five-day programme includes:
– Theory sessions focusing on codicological, paleographic, linguistic and historico-cultural aspects of the letters;
– practical sessions dedicated to the transcription, linguistic study and history of the letters as well as their digital processing;
– lectures given by internationally-renowned specialists;
– discussions between researchers and guest speakers;
– a tour of the city of Liège.

During the seminar, participants will take part in the complete publishing of one or more epistolary documents. This work will result in a nominative publication in the EpistolART database.

Target audience

The seminar is aimed at researchers, doctoral students and post-doctoral students in the humanities. The curricula of the most deserving students may also be taken into account.

The corpus of the texts which will be analysed and transcribed during the classes requires a good knowledge of Italian. Applicants should also have at least passive knowledge of French and English.

Objectives

The seminar organised by the EpistolART project team aims to develop philological, linguistic and historical research skills in the field of the digital publishing of letters from the Quattrocento and the Cinquecento. The corpus concerned will be from the Carteggio inedito d’artisti dei secoli XIV, XV e XVI, published between 1839 and 1840 by Johann Wilhelm Gaye, an anthology which is at the heart of the EpistolART project.

Credit

Each participant will receive a certificate of participation at the end of the seminar.
Contribution to the costs

Registration fees are €500 to be paid no later than one month after receipt of the confirmation of acceptance. This amount will cover accommodation costs, lunch, coffee breaks and access to IT and library resources at the University of Liège.

Applications

Applications, including a curriculum vitae and a cover letter (max. 1,000 characters) must be sent by email to epistolart@ulg.ac.be no later than 3 April 2016.

Students not holding a Master’s degree should attach a cover letter from one of their professors to their application. Selection will be based on applicants’ experience and the goals expressed in the letter.

Grants

Grants will be offered to the most deserving applicants to cover the registration fees.
