Le Lamop et le SAMM de l’université Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne proposent un post-doctorat en humanités computationnelles ou en mathématiques appliquées, dans le cadre d’un projet Sorb’Rising lié à la codicologie quantitative.
À la croisée de l’histoire médiévale et des méthodes computationnelles d’intelligence artificielle, l’objectif est de développer des algorithmes d’analyse et de segmentation du texte dans les pages de manuscrits juridiques numérisés. Les principaux outils pour mener ce projet à bien consistent pour une part en des stratégies préexistantes telles que les approches de reconnaissance de caractères (HTR), certaines architectures de réseaux de neurones profonds préentraînés (Kraken,…), des stratégies de segmentation d’image classiques en vision artificielle (computer vision).

From the North Sea to the Mediterranean, from the Atlantic to the Black Sea: The spatial distribution of late Roman and early medieval material culture demonstrates the era’s long-distance human connections.
Meeting on “Spatiality and Networks in Late Antiquity and the Early Middle Ages” – submission until April 30, 2025.
New finds, as well as methodological and theoretical developments, allow us to analyse them from a new perspective.
For this year’s AGSFM meeting we invite you to reflect on networks and perspectives of network analysis in late Roman and early medieval studies. We will focus on the following topics:
Regional visualizations based on individual studies
Spatial and temporal high-resolution information on ‚key regions‘
Individual studies, e.g. household archaeology (spatial distributions within small areas and their relationships)
Areas of communication, e.g. exchange and trade networks, symbols, burial practices, artifacts and their components
Overlapping spatial concepts, their entanglements and communication ranges
Social meanings and construction of space
Mental mapping and actor-related spatial perception, e.g. of distances
Mobility, especially of groups of people and animals; mobility and social (e.g. family) structures
Political and social order as a basis for spatial understanding
Relationships between identity and space
Networks of resources and activities
“Network” as a metaphor and research tool
The use and transformation of maps and mappings in contemporary research.
On September 8 and 9 2025, this year’s meeting of the Working Group for Late Antiquity and Early Middle Ages (AGSFM) will give space to these questions. The meeting will be a forum to present new results or projects on these topics. We also aim to identify and discuss related challenges, problems and questions.
We welcome contributions in German and English. Presentations should not exceed 20 minutes. Proposals for papers (400-600 characters) should be submitted to a.flueckiger@unibas.ch
by April 30, 2025.

This volume investigates the vivid and emotionally intense commemoration of the Passion of Christ as a key element in late medieval religious culture. Its goal is to shed light on how the Passion was communicated and on its socio-religious function in late medieval Europe. By adopting a multidisciplinary approach, the volume analyses the different media involved in this cultural process (sermons, devotional texts, lively performances, statues, images), the multiple forms and languages in which the Passion was presented to the faithful, and how they were expected to respond to it. Key questions concern the strategies used to present the Passion; the interaction between texts, images, and sounds in different media; the dissemination of theological ideas in the public space; the fashioning of an affective response in the audience; and the presence or absence of anti-Jewish commonplaces.
By exploring the interplay among a wide range of sources, this volume highlights the pervasive role of the Passion in late medieval society and in the life of the people of the time.
Pietro Delcorno, Ph.D. (2016) is Associate Professor in Medieval History at Alma Mater Studiorum – Università di Bologna. He has published widely on medieval preaching and religious theatre and on late medieval social history, including Lazzaro e il ricco epulone: Metamorfosi di una parabola fra Quattro e Cinquecento (Il Mulino, 2014) and In the Mirror of the Prodigal Son: The Pastoral Uses of a Biblical Narrative (c. 1200-1550) (Brill, 2018).
Holly Johnson, Ph.D. (2001) is Professor of English at Mississippi State University. She has published on a variety of topics associated with sermons preached in late medieval England, and she has edited and translated a number of previously unpublished sermons. Her books include The Grammar of Good Friday: Macaronic Sermons of Late Medieval England (Brepols, 2012) and Robert Rypon, Selected Sermons, Vol 1: Feast Days and Saints’ Days (Peeters, 2019).

Polémique, la question de l’(in-)existence de l’auteur médiéval a souvent été abordée à travers le prisme du sujet, dont l’auteur serait progressivement devenu l’avatar littéraire, régnant en maître sur le système esthétique, éditorial et juridique moderne. Pour renouveler le débat, le présent ouvrage entend contourner cette confusion téléologique entre auteur et subjectivité afin de mieux comprendre en contexte un chapitre clé de l’histoire de la notion : l’avènement, au Moyen Âge central (1100-1340), des premiers manuscrits organisés autour de figures d’auteurs francophones. Par l’analyse d’un corpus original de vingt-cinq manuscrits consacrés à dix-sept auteurs, on arguera que ces recueils sont moins le fait de consciences « proto-modernes », soucieuses de contrôler la diffusion de leur œuvre, que le fruit d’un effort éditorial collectif et planifié pour bâtir des figures auctoriales vernaculaires, et ce, dans un dialogue décapant, quoiqu’empreint de piété, avec les conceptions antiques de l’auteur.

The history of the cardinalate, which stretches from the 11th century to the present day, went through one of the most volatile phases of its development between the beginning of the Western Schism (1378) and the close of the Fifth Lateran Council (1517). This congress aims to work and reflect on these cardinals, both as a group, gathered in the Sacred College, and in their individual dimensions, as lords, members of lineages, pastors, reformers, conciliarists, centres of courts, families and networks, diplomats and representatives of nations, patrons of the arts, among others. The cross-sectional interest of this congress stems from the desire to feed the historiographical renewal that has been taking place over the last two decades on the medieval cardinalate, seeking to bring together researchers who are dedicated to its study, regardless of the angle of approach they may take.

Stedelijk Museum Alkmaar is een ondernemend kunst- en cultuurhistorisch museum dat sterk verankerd is in de stad en de regio, met een kwalitatief hoogstaande collectie en tentoonstellingen van (inter)nationale betekenis. Het museum ontvangt jaarlijks circa 60.000 bezoekers. Met drie programmalijnen – oude meesters van de 16e en 17e eeuw, vroeg 20e-eeuwse kunst rond de Bergense School en hedendaagse en cultuurhistorische thema’s – bieden we een veelzijdig aanbod van tentoonstellingen, educatieve programma’s en activiteiten. De komende jaren willen we een breed en divers publiek kennis laten maken, inspireren en verbinden met kunst, cultuur en geschiedenis van Alkmaar en de regio. Het museum werkt momenteel hard aan uitbreidingsplannen waarmee het zijn naam kan verstevigen als hét museum van het noorden van Nederland waar kunst van wereldformaat te zien is.
De afdeling Programma en Collectie is verantwoordelijk voor de inhoudelijke impact van het museum en bestaat uit acht medewerkers en één vrijwilliger, verdeeld over collectie(beheer), educatie en participatie, conservatoren en projectleiding presentaties.

Wat ga je doen?
Je maakt samen met de afdeling beleid voor meerdere jaren en zorgt ervoor dat het beleid op strategisch en tactisch niveau vorm en inhoud krijgt.
Je bent inhoudelijk verantwoordelijk voor een dynamisch en samenhangend tentoonstellings- en activiteitenprogramma samen met de directeur en het hoofd Publiek, alsmede voor de uitvoering van een uitgebreid publieks-, onderwijs- en participatieprogramma.
Je ontwikkelt samen met de afdeling een duurzaam collectieplan en draagt zorg voor een goede uitvoering van het behoud, beheer en de ontsluiting van de gehele collectie en een actief verzamelbeleid.
Je vertaalt missie, visie en beleid naar laagdrempelig publieksprogramma en speelt een actieve rol in het creëren van mogelijkheden.
Je maakt onderdeel uit van het managementteam en verbindt de disciplines binnen jouw afdeling aan de museale taak van het museum.
Je stuurt teamleden resultaatgericht aan en helpt hen te ontwikkelen in hun rol.
Je bent verantwoordelijk voor een efficiënte inrichting van de afdeling en draagt zorg voor vastlegging en het bewaken van de werkprocessen op de verschillende taakvelden.
Je vertegenwoordigt Stedelijk Museum Alkmaar samen met de directeur binnen de regio, in de nationale en internationale museale wereld, bij schenkers, collectie-beherende instellingen en overheden.

Je hebt ruime ervaring in het museale veld op minstens één van de deelgebieden van de afdeling en hebt bij voorkeur ervaring met het ontwikkelen van publieksprogramma’s, tentoonstellingsprocessen en projectmatig werken.
Je bent bekend met de werking van een MT, begrijpt de dynamiek en complexiteit van de culturele wereld en hebt oog voor relevante ontwikkelingen binnen en buiten het museum.
Je bent in staat om prioriteiten te stellen en op samenhang te sturen.
Je bent daadkrachtig, creatief en neemt met plezier het initiatief.
Wat bieden wij jou? Wij bieden een dynamische en uitdagende werkomgeving, met ruimte om jezelf te ontwikkelen. Het salaris bedraagt bruto minimaal € 4.532 en maximaal € 7.093 per maand op basis van 36 uur (peildatum 1 juli 2025, inschaling op basis van ervaring, expertise en opleidingsniveau). Dit is exclusief 8% vakantietoeslag en 3,4% eindejaarsuitkering. Stedelijk Museum Alkmaar hanteert de Museum cao en is aangesloten bij pensioenfonds ABP. De aanstelling is in eerste instantie voor een jaar, met uitzicht op een vast dienstverband.

This book analyses the diffusion of anti-Judaic stereotypes and topoi in thirteenth- and early fourteenth-century model sermon collections. It concentrates on the sermons on Luke 19.41-48 where Jesus foretells the Destruction of Jerusalem. The preachers took the view that the Destruction of Jerusalem was divine vengeance for the Jews because they killed Jesus. Thus, these sermons were a good venue for those preachers who wanted to preach against the Jews.
Model sermon collections were the closest thing to modern mass media. Consequently, their role in the diffusion of anti-Judaic attitudes was significant. The anti-Judaic writings of the early Church Fathers were only read by few literate church men, whereas model sermons reached the illiterate masses all over Christianity. Therefore, they played a major role in diffusing anti-Judaic attitudes amongst the population at large and thus contributed to the marginalization of the Jews, to various libels, expulsions, violence, and eventually to large-scale pogroms.

Les Journées du LaMOP, organisées depuis 2012, sont l’occasion de donner la parole à un éminent collègue étranger, qui évoque son parcours académique et scientifique, ses liens avec la recherche française, ses méthodes de travail et ses chantiers en cours.
Pour la 12e journée de cet évènement, le LaMOP a invité́ Flocel Sabaté, Professeur à l’Université de Lleida, dont les relations avec le laboratoire remontent au début des années 2000. Ses travaux abordent la société médiévale entre les IXe et XVe siècle, à partir d’un terrain d’observation principalement constitué par la Catalogne et la Couronne d’Aragon. Ses thématiques de recherche, développées de manière monographique ou au travers d’ouvrages collectifs, sont dès lors très diverses : féodalité, territoire, fiscalité et administration de la justice, relations de pouvoir, modélisation des constructions politiques, violence et comportements sociaux, identités collectives et mémoire… Quelques-unes de ses publications récentes, autour de l’identité, sur la peine de mort et le phénomène des routiers, feront l’objet d’une lecture par des membres du Lamop et d’une discussion.
