Colloque – Die italienische Stadtkommune. Akteure – Artefakte – Abläufe

Friday, 27 August, and Saturday, 28 August 2021

Organised by the Department of Medieval History at RWTH Aachen University (Giuseppe Cusa), in collaboration with the German Historical Institute in Rome (DHI Rom) and funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG).

Informations: kommune(at)histinst.rwth-aachen.de

The Italian city communes are a topic which has been dealt with by international, not least German medievalists. The conference aims on the one hand to revive the sometimes neglected German-Italian dialogue and on the other hand to bundle the latest research tendencies. The focus will be on the former inhabitants (actors) of communal Italy, their material, primarily written artifacts, and the social, institutional, and political processes of the time.

Conference languages are English, German, and Italian. There will be no registration fees to attend the online conference. Those interested can register by e-mail to kommune(at)histinst.rwth-aachen.de to receive the access data for the online conference.
