The Yale University Department of History intends to appoint a tenure-track assistant professor of the Eastern Mediterranean or Near East, who specializes in the years between 600 and 1500, to begin on July 1, 2023. We are especially interested in scholars, who work across regions, languages, cultures, and religions. Applicants should have strong potential for achievement in scholarship as well as undergraduate and graduate teaching. We welcome applications from historians who already hold teaching positions, as well as recent PhDs and those who expect their PhD or equivalent degree by the time of appointment.
All applicants should submit a letter of application, C.V., a statement of research and a statement of teaching interests, and a chapter length writing sample prepared for anonymous reading. Letters of reference are not required at this initial stage but will be requested later. All applicants should submit materials at http://apply.interfolio.com/108402. Please contact Denise Scott denise.scott@yale.edu with any questions. The review of applications will begin October 1, 2022.
