The Fitalia Codex contains one of the most important collections of 13th and 14th century dictamina (texts that served as models of Rethoric). The letters and the poems preserved in the manuscript provide an insight into both the history of Europe in that timeframe and the refined culture of Southern-Italian chanceries and schools, which exerted an influence on every intellectual of the era, including Dante.
