Dans le cadre d’un projet ANR (Imaginarm), l’Université Lumière Lyon 2 et le laboratoire CIHAM lancent un appel à candidature pour un contrat doctoral en Littérature médiévale/Histoire de l’art.

Le projet IMAGINARM vise à fournir une étude exhaustive de l’héraldique arthurienne. La recherche va explorer ce phénomène depuis ses débuts au XIII^e siècle jusqu’au XVII^e siècle, d’après ses trois canaux de transmission : 1) les textes où les armoiries sont décrites 2) les enluminures des manuscrits où les artistes ont peint des armoiries reconnaissables 3) les armoriaux (des catalogues d’armoiries) qui mettent en scène les écus des chevaliers. Ces sujets vont être abordés à l’aide d’une approche interdisciplinaire combinant les apports de l’histoire, la littérature, l’héraldique, la philologie, l’histoire de l’art, l’histoire du livre.

La/le candidat.e doctoral sera amené.e à contribuer à ce chantier, en s’intéressant en particulier au corpus des manuscrits enluminés. Il/elle va proposer une enquête interdisciplinaire, au croisement entre littérature et histoire de l’art/codicologie, portant sur le traitement de l’imaginaire chevaleresque, et entre autres de l’héraldique, dans un corpus de témoins illustrés de la fin du Moyen Âge. Le sujet de thèse sera défini conjointement avec les directeurs de recherche, et pourra être établi en fonction des compétences du candidat/de la candidate.

Le/la candidat.e sera inscrit.e en cotutelle ou codirection entre l’Université de Lyon 2 et l’Université d’Utrecht. Il/elle sera dirigé.e par Francesco Montorsi (Université de Lyon 2, littérature) et par Martine Meuwese (Université d’Utrecht, histoire de l’art).

Dans le cadre d’un partenariat avec la BnF, le/la candidat.e sera amené.e à rédiger pour le catalogue BnF Archives et Manuscrits (BAM – https://archivesetmanuscrits.bnf.fr/) les notices signées de manuscrits étudiés par lui/elle pendant son projet doctoral.  

La personne recrutée doit être titulaire d’un master à la date de septembre 2023. Il/elle doit disposer d’une maîtrise dans l’un des domaines concernés par le projet et doit manifester d’un véritable intérêt pour la recherche.

Les candidats doivent envoyer au responsable du projet leur CV et une lettre de motivation. La lettre de motivation (max. 3 pages) doit exposer le parcours du/de la candidat.e et son adéquation avec le poste. Elle doit inclure également un résumé du projet doctoral envisagé par la/le candidat.e (max. 1 page, avec bibliographie ; le projet pourra être revu dans une deuxième phase).

Des entretiens auront lieu en fin juin. Le jury pourra demander des documents complémentaires en vue de l’entretien.

A virtual conference hosted by the University of Pennsylvania and the Dance Studies Association’s Early Dance Working Group

What does it look like for historical expressions of dancing and movement arts to break out of traditional academic and performative boxes? How do scholars and practitioners escape the boundaries of discipline, chronology, geography, and methodology subsumed under the conventional appellation of “early dance”? Conversely, how can we demonstrate the ways in which our work complements and completes the work of other disciplines in light of these distinctions? This symposium explores early dance as an idea, a time, a place, a locus of cultural meaning and aims to draw together scholars working across disciplines and geographies who are nevertheless invested in “early” dance and movement.

We invite papers for this virtual symposium from scholars across disciplines, exploring aspects of dance and movement from all methodological perspectives, finding commonality in the antecedental nature of their work. Whether looking at the musical, literary, cultural, political, religious, or social contexts of dance, or expanding knowledge of its somatic and kinesthetic dimensions, we find unity in the chronological earliness of our work. We encourage papers that explore dance outside of Western European frameworks of knowledge and movement production, including comparative or transhistorical perspectives on pre-1800 or “early” dance.

Stad Brugge organiseert een contractuele aanwervingsprocedure voor Conservator Vlaamse Primitieven en Renaissance bij Musea Brugge (salarisschaal A1a-A2a – deadline VÓÓR 9 mei 2023).

• Je bent verantwoordelijk voor de collectie schilderkunst vóór 1584 van de Stad Brugge die beheerd wordt door Musea Brugge.
• Je beheert, inventariseert, onderzoekt en ontsluit deze collectie aan het brede en gespecialiseerde publiek door middel van lezingen, publicaties, tentoonstellingen, e-tentoonstellingen, podcasts, …
• Je ondersteunt en bouwt de werking van het nieuw op te richten BRON – research centre uit samen met de bibliothecaris en de andere conservatoren.
• Je draagt daarmee in belangrijke mate bij aan de uitstraling van Musea Brugge als wetenschappelijke instelling.
• Je beheert de digitale en papieren dossiers behorende tot de deelcollectie en houdt ze up-to-date.
• Tevens ben je samen met de andere conservatoren verantwoordelijk voor de presentaties van de vaste collectie op de verschillende museumlocaties. Dit in nauwe samenwerking met de afdeling Publiek en Tentoonstellingen.

Wat wordt er van jou verwacht?

• Je beschikt over master diploma* OF hebt minimum 5 jaar relevante professionele ervaring, uitgebreid toe te lichten in jouw CV en/of motivatiebrief. Een PhD is zeker een meerwaarde.
• Je hebt kennis van en inzicht in het museaal collectiebeheer en presentatie, specifiek m.b.t. deze deelcollectie.
• Je hebt ruimte ervaring met het uitvoeren van kunsthistorisch en objectgericht onderzoek.
• Je bent sterk in samenwerking, planning en organisatie.
• Je hebt (passieve) ervaring met collectiedatabase programma’s.
• Je hebt minimaal een basiskennis van het Nederlands en bent, indien nodig, bereid deze bij te werken tot een functioneel niveau voor de job.
• Je hebt mondelinge en schriftelijke kennis van het Engels. Elke bijkomende taal is een plus.
• Je hebt respect voor het erfgoedobject en onderschrijft de Deontologische code ICOM.
• Je hebt kennis van toepasselijke wetgeving (gemeentedecreet, overheidsopdrachten, museumdecreet …) of ben bereid deze snel te verwerven.

The History of Art section at Radboud University is looking for a Full Professor of History of Art and Architecture between 500-1500 CE (1,0 FTE). The position builds on the section’s existing strengths, which includes visual and material culture of Europe after 1500 CE, architecture, and global modern and contemporary art.
You are an art historian whose research explores cross-cultural connections and links historical research to contemporary issues and practices, such as cultural heritage. Our section is especially interested in scholars whose research and teaching expand or complicate the geographical and cultural boundaries of the ‘medieval’, who incorporate new methodologies, and whose interests include Islamic Art and Architecture, materiality and craft (including modern material-technical research), or the social uses and sensory experiences of works of art.

As a Professor of History of Art and Architecture at Radboud University, you will build on your robust and innovative research agenda, track record of outstanding scholarly publications, and other academic achievements on an international level. You will develop cross-disciplinary collaborations through innovative teaching and research, mentoring, and forging links with students and faculty across the university and beyond. You will contribute to the development of courses on all levels, teach both introductory and specialised courses, and take part in study trips, which are integral to the curriculum. The German Section in the Faculty of Modern and Medieval Languages and Linguistics at the University of Cambridge is seeking to appoint a full-time University Assistant Professor in Medieval German Literature. The post will cover the teaching and associated duties of a member of the Section during their tenure of a Leverhulme Major Research Fellowship and is fixed term for 3 years, with a start date of 1^st September 2023. The Section will provide career development and mentoring for the successful candidate and is strongly committed to equality, diversity and inclusiveness.

The Assistant Professor will be expected to contribute to the teaching and examining of German medieval literature and culture. There may be an opportunity to teach topics from the Early Modern period and to conduct classes in translation between German and English. It is also expected that the appointee will have the opportunity to participate in teaching and examining at postgraduate level in their field of expertise. The role includes a contribution to the administration of the Section’s activities and of those of the Faculty more broadly. We welcome applicants with a record of excellence in research, commensurate with career stage, and a strong trajectory.

Candidates will have relevant teaching experience, have successfully completed a PhD in a relevant field by the start date for the post and be able to demonstrate active, collegial engagement in research, teaching and outreach in German Studies. A native or near-native command of both German and English is essential.

dans le cadre d’un contrat à temps plein pour une durée indéterminée.

Cette fonction scientifique aura une dimension transversale au sein de Belspo et le ou la lauréat∙e recevra une lettre de mission établie par le Président du Comité de Direction de Belspo.

En tant que maître de recherches en patrimoine, vous développerez une action scientifique de haut niveau et transversale sur le patrimoine fédéral et plus particulièrement sur le patrimoine de Belspo. Vous supporterez la mise en place de projets transversaux en lien avec la collection fédérale : programmation muséologique, groupes de travail interdisciplinaires, expositions temporaires, etc. Vous représenterez Belspo tant au niveau national qu’international auprès des artistes, des collectionneurs et des institutions afin de faire rayonner la collection fédérale relevant de Belspo, de susciter des dons, legs et dépôts enrichissant la collection fédérale. Vous supporterez toute structure fédérale qui, dans ses missions, requiert ponctuellement une expertise en matière de patrimoine. Vous coordonnerez des recherches sur des thèmes en lien avec le patrimoine et éventuellement les structuraliser. Vous réunirez et gérerez fonctionnellement les équipes scientifiques interdisciplinaires et transversales constituées autour de projets lancés dans le cadre de problématiques déterminées par Belspo, en lien avec le patrimoine. Vous contribuerez activement au développement d’initiatives favorisant la mise en valeur et l’accès à la collection fédérale.
