Lyell Career Development Fellow in Latin Palaeography

Grade 7: £31,604 – £38,833 p.a.
We are seeking a Career Development Fellow in Latin Palaeography, to be based in the Weston Library (the home of the Bodleian’s special collections) and the Faculty of History. Lincoln College also expects to elect the Fellow to a non-stipendiary fellowship for the duration of the post.
You will carry out research in any aspect of the palaeography of European Latin manuscripts in the medieval period, focusing at least in part on manuscripts in the collections of the Bodleian or other Oxford libraries. You will also teach palaeography classes to graduate students, offer informal advice and assistance, and assist where appropriate with activities in support of the public engagement with research.
You will hold, or be close to completion of (i.e. already submitted), a doctorate, or have equivalent academic achievement; a good command of classical and medieval Latin; the ability to carry out palaeographical research of high quality; experience of teaching palaeography, and the desire to develop personal teaching skills; and a commitment to the highest standard of training for graduate students.
This is a fixed-term, 3-year post, and is a career development opportunity aimed at applicants early in their career, looking to develop their skills and experience.
