The Courtauld Institute of Art is the UK’s leading institution for teaching and research in the History of Art and the conservation of paintings, and is also home to one of the finest small art museums in the world.
This position at The Courtauld Gallery is supported by the Bridget Riley Art Foundation. It provides an exciting opportunity to acquire early career experience in curatorial practice across all the collection and programming areas of The Courtauld Gallery. This is a period of transformation as the Courtauld undertakes a major capital project, Courtauld Connects, which includes the complete refurbishment of the Gallery and the redisplay of its collections. It also includes the delivery of a series of national and international loan projects during the Gallery’s current period of closure, which runs to early 2021.
The role will support the curatorial department in the delivery of projects during closure and in preparations for the redisplay of the collection. The post-holder will also encourage the use of the collection by both students of art and history, with special emphasis on the drawings collection.
Applicants must have demonstrable interest in curatorial work and pursuing a career in museums, with ability to work collaboratively and proactively as part of an effective team. Also required are good organizational and IT skills.
