Applications are invited to the Assistant Professor in Medieval History in the School of Histories & Humanities at Trinity College, Dublin.

The Department of History, Trinity College Dublin, is seeking to appoint an Assistant Professor in central to late medieval history (1100-1500). The post-holder will maintain research and teaching interests in medieval history, with demonstrable expertise and relevant publications.

The successful applicant will contribute to the delivery of modules at all levels of the curriculum, including supervision of BA and MPhil dissertations across a broad range of medieval history. Within the undergraduate History programme, the holder of the post will coordinate either the Religion and Society 1095-1517 module or the Hundred Years’ War module. At Sophister level, the post-holder will develop and coordinate one or more advanced modules arising from their research interests that complement those offered by existing staff. At MPhil level, the post-holder will have the opportunity to teach on the Mediaeval Studies MPhil. The post-holder will also undertake other teaching and administrative duties at the direction of the Head of Department.

The specific purpose of this post is to provide cover of an Assistant Professor post for the substantive postholder who is on a teaching buy-out for a research project. Employment is not offered on an indefinite duration basis as the original post holder will return to their role once the period of the buy-out is completed. The expected start date is 1 September 2023.

Salary: Appointment will be made on the Lecturer Salary Scale (109BN) commensurate with qualifications/experience and in line with Public Sector Pay Policy (€38,719 to €94,031 per annum) www.tcd.ie/hr/assets/pdf/monthly-academic.pdf
