We are delighted to announce that the Institute for Religion and Critical Inquiry at ACU is forming a new research team in Medieval and Early Modern Studies.
We seek a dynamic and collegial scholar with an international reputation in an area of Medieval or Early Modern Studies (MEMS) to lead and mentor staff and shape this new research program.
Working with and reporting to the Institute Director, the Program Director will have a proven track record of internationally-recognised research in medieval and early modern studies broadly conceived. He or she will have a successful track record of academic leadership and service and will work collegially and collaboratively to build his or her own research profile and initiate and contribute to team projects which address significant problems in the field. The Program Director will initiate and sustain national and international research partnerships and develop a collaborative, creative, and high-quality research program across the team. In addition to this role, we are currently advertising for multiple Research Fellow or Senior Research Fellow positions which will report to the Program Director.
Institute members engage in collaborative research on religion and critical thought from multiple disciplinary perspectives, including philosophy, theology, history, and literature. They explore the inter-relationships between philosophy, religion, and their cultural contexts, and contribute to contemporary theological, philosophical, social, and political debates. The new Medieval and Early Modern Studies Program adds to and builds on established research in Biblical and Early Christian Studies, Philosophy, and Religion and Theology. The Institute has developed research partnerships with leading global universities, and presents a series of research seminars each year at ACU’s Rome Campus. In the Excellence in Research Australia 2015 exercise, research in Religion and Religious Studies and Philosophy was ranked ‘above world standard’.
